Home Remedies for Lucorrhoea (Vaginal Discharge)

A whitish or yellowish discharge that may occur during pregnancy or between menstrual cycles from the female genital is called Leukorrhea or Lucorrhoea (Vaginitis). The consistency of this vaginal discharge can be thin or thick.

Leucorrhoea is not an alarming problem, but it is a common problem in women. It sometimes is accompanied with irritation, discomfort, itching and foul smell, that is when a treatment becomes urgent.

Increase in hormonal levels of estrogen is the main cause of Leucorrhoea. Unhygienic conditions, anemia and diabetes can also cause Leucorrhoea. Even a vaginal infection or STD can lead to leucorrhoea.

 

Pregnant women should always consult a doctor for leucorrhoea. However, in most other cases home remedies for leucorrhoea should suffice. Even Then you may have to consult a doctor particularly when the itching and discomfort is extreme.

Home Remedies for Stopping Vaginal Discharge

A number of items from your kitchen can be helpful in healing leucorrhoea. Some of them are listed below with details of how to use them to stop that smelly vaginal discharge.

1. Okra

Okra is mineral rich and also a mucilaginous. It helps to stop the vaginal discharge. You will have to drink okra water. You can prepare the okra water as under

  • Wash and clean a handful of okra
  • Cut them into small pieces of about an inch or less of each piece
  • Boil the okra in two glasses of water for 15-20 minutes.
  • Let it cool down to palatable temperatures
  • Strain and drink

You can add a teaspoon of honey taste. Do it 2-3 times a day until that annoying discharge is stopped.

2. Cranberry

Cranberries are very useful in almost all kings of infections of genital area and leucorrhoea. It is antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant.

  • Drink one glass of fresh cranberry juice 3 times a day
  • Make sure that the juice is unsweetened

You can drink it until the vaginal discharge is stopped.

If you are pregnant then you must consult your doctor before taking the cranberry juice rout to stop discharge.

 

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

With its antiseptic capabilities and acidity to balance body's ph Apple Cider Vinegar can be used in two ways - external application as well as in consuming it. It is a very good home remedy for leucorrhea.

External Application

  • Dilute a Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar with equal amount of water
  • Use the mix to wash your vagina
  • Do it 2 -3 times a day
  • Increase the quantity if 1 tablespoon is not sufficient

You can also drink Apple Cider Vinegar in addition to the external application for quicker results. Add a couple of tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water and drink it 2-3 times a day until leucorrhoea is healed.

4. Pomegranate

Pomegranate is a very powerful medicinal fruit. Even its rind and leaves are used for treatment of various diseases. Pomegranate is specifically very useful in healing leucorrhoea and stop the annoying vaginal discharge.

  • Eat one pomegranate daily
  • Drink Pomegranate juice if you prefer instead of eating it.
  • Make a smoothie of Pomegranate and drink it.

Consumption of pomegranate in a smoothie is more effective as the probiotic properties of the yogurt add speedy recovery.

5. Mango Seeds

Mango seeds have powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. You can use mango seed for external application to stop vaginal discharge.

  • Grind dried mango seeds (100gms)
  • Add little water to make a thick paste
  • Apply the paste externally as well as internally on vagina
  • Wash it after 30 minutes with warm water
  • Do it 2-3 times a day.

In addition to all the above home remedies you should always maintain good hygiene of your private parts. Make sure that your undergarments are washed daily and changed daily.
