Gallstones generally do not produce any symptoms but some gallstones which grow larger may produce severe pain below the right side ribs. Visit your doctor, these gallstones require immediate attention.

Gallbladder, the small pear shaped organ stores bile (a liquid produced by lever to digest fat). When bile becomes too concentrated in the gallbladder, it forms crystal like stones.

Eighty percent of these stones are cholesterol and remaining 20 percent are made up of calcium salt and pigment bilirubin.

1. Low Fat Diet

This will cut off the bile pipeline. Which means consumption of items such as dairy foods, meats, hydrogenated oils which make bile more concentrated must be reduced significantly.

So if you eat low fat and low sugar diet and eat more fiber rich food items then the bile will not get concentrated and you will live a symptom free life even if you already have small gallstones.

2. Omega3 fatty Acids

While on one side you cut your saturated fat intake, you increase intake of Omega3 fatty acids to keep the solubility of bile. This doesn't harden the bile and gallstones do not grow.

Omega3 fatty acids are available in abundantly in certain fish, flax seed oils, walnut oil and olive oil. Consume these items in your daily diet.

3. High Fiber Foods

Increase intake of fiber rich foods to reduce cholesterol levels. Soluble fiber helps to drain excess cholesterol from the body. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables- at least 5 servings a day. Add beans legumes and whole grain food items in daily diet.

Avoid consumption of white bread and all other refined carbohydrates. Slowly but steadily you will control your cholesterol by following these instructions. Since most gallstones are cholesterol, you will not get them and the already present stones will not grow.

In addition to the above dietary changes you can flush out the small gallstones by the following method.

4. Olive Oil. Lemon Juice and Castor Oil

This remedy for gallstone should be used before going to bed. Take about 50 ml of olive oil and equal quantity of freshly squeezed lemon juice in a cup and mix them well.

Then drink a tablespoon of castor oil. Lie down on your right side for 30 minutes and then go to bed.

In then morning check your stools if you have got some green stones. if so then the flush has worked well. You can repeat the flush for 2-3 days. It is better and safer to do this kind of flush under the supervision of a doctor.

5. Drink Plenty of water

Dehydration tend to concentrate bile. So if you are one of those who have small gallstones but your cholesterol levels are normal then dehydration is causing your gallstones. Start drinking more water to hydrate yourself. Make this a habit.

Dehydration is the root cause of many health conditions. It puts body's functioning in disarray. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Drinking a glass of water every hour will go a long way in improving your overall health.
