Home Remedies for Dysuria or Painful Urination

Dysuria is a discomfort during urination leading to pain and burning sensation. It commonly affects more women than men. Among the men older men are more vulnerable than the younger men to suffer dysuria.

Dysuria is mostly caused by urinary tract infections. The bacterial infection in urethra, ureters, bladder, kidneys or any other section of the urinary tract can cause painful urination.

Being a woman itself can be one of the reason for the UTI, but if you have diabetes, kidney stones or enlarged prostate then probability of UTI and dysuria increases.

In addition to the painful urination, your other symptoms may include fever, cloudy, bloody or foul smelling urine and increased frequency of urination.There are many home remedies for dysuria that can relieve you from pain and burning. Use one or more to suit availability and your comfort.

 

Yeast infections and other vaginal infections can also cause painful urination. Sexually transmitted diseases such as Genital herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhea will also give you painful urination. Therefore, it is important to treat the underlying disease, if any, to get relief from pain, burning and itching.

5 Home Remedies for Dysuria to Stop Painful Urination.

While it is extremely important to treat the underlying condition with proper medical attention, the following home remedies as supplementary aid will certainly help you to reduce you pain and burning. If you have a UTI, but no other major health condition, then these remedies will not only stop your painful urination but will also treat UTI.

1. Drink More Water

You have to drink more water to flush out the bacteria from the urinary tract. If you are dehydrated, then you are allowing the bacteria to grow.

  • Drink 8-10 glasses of water during the day. This will increase urine frequency as well as quantum of urine.
  • Drink other fruit juices such as cranberry juice which acts as diuretic

within a couple of days you will begin to feel relief and by the end of a week you should be completely free of any mild UTI and resulting dysuria.

2. Hot Compress on Abdomen

The urination is painful because the bladder pressure has increased due to bacteria. The bladder pressure can be reduced by applying warm compress on the abdomen. This is one of the most common sense remedies to get instant relief from dysuria.

  • sleep on your back
  • use a hot water bottle or any other commercially available warm compress on you abdomen for 10-15 minutes.

You can repeat the application of warm compress as and when the pain increases. This is a temporary relief mechanism. it will work well with drinking enough water and other remedies to permanently get rid of the pain during urination.

3. Lemon and Ginger

Lemon juice in water is a natural diuretic to relieve you from the painful urination. A diuretic is a substance that help moving urine out of the body.

Lemon with its antiseptic, antiviral and diuretic properties is an excellent remedy for painful urination.

  • squeeze one lemon juice in a glass of water.
  • let water be at room temperature. Cold water will not help
  • drink it empty stomach early in the morning and a couple of hours before lunch dinner

You can add a teaspoon of ginger juice to increase its potency of becoming a stronger diuretic. Ginger or lemon water alone will do a good job but together they are much better.

4. Cucumber

Cucumber with its high water content , silicon and sulfur making it a powerful diuretic. The silicon and sulfur induces kidneys to eliminate uric acid as a result the kidneys and bladder are not overstuffed.

Caffeic and ascorbic acid in cucumber also add to the diuretic properties.

Eat one healthy cucumber between meals 2-3 times a day to get rid of dysuria.

5. Carrots

Carrots are regarded as natural diuretic vegetables due to a special mix of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They contain phytochemicals such as lutein, lycopene, carotenes, zeaxanthin and xanthophyll, some of which increase detoxification and metabolic rate. In addition carrots are alkaline which increases its diuretic nature.

Drink one glass of carrot juice every morning to stop painful urination.

You should be seriously monitoring dysuria as if it is not treated well then it can lead to further complications in the kidneys and bladder. If the above home remedies do not show quick results within a day or two then you must visit a doctor who may treat your condition. These remedies can still be continued under doctors supervision for faster results.
