How to Get Rid of Shaving Bumps: Razor and Bikini Burns

While shaving on face men sometimes are faced with minor burning sensation and red rashes called razor burns. Even women who are used to shave their arm, armpits,legs and bikini area get these burns and rashes.

They can get swollen and itchy causing major discomfort. Major causes of these burns include sensitive skin, shaving on dry skin without using creams to condition the skin, hard soaps and dull razor blades.

If you have ingrown hair, then be ready to face some painful bumps during shaving. You have may choices to easily get rid of these razor burn fast with natural remedies at home.

1. Aloe Vera

 

Fresh Aloe Vera gel will reduce the burning sensation caused by razor burns by soothing and cooling the skin. Aloe Vera also keeps your skin moisturized for a longer period.

It will also reduce inflammation. Though fresh Aloe Vera is best, you can use stored Aloe Vera gel in the refrigerator for the same effect. It may not be possible for everyone to get fresh Aloe Vera. You can also use commercially available Aloe Vera gel.

2. Cold Compress

Cold compress is the best first aid to get rid of burning sensation caused by the razor burns. Ice numbs the skin, therefore it immediately reduces the pain and burning sensation. Wrap some ice cubes in a cotton cloth and dab the inflamed area. Do it for 3-5 minutes. Then apply Aloe Vera.

3. Cucumber

Cucumber contains pain reducing vitamin C and K. Take a cucumber from your refrigerator. Make a couple of thin slices of cucumber and keep it on the affected area.

Since the cucumber is cold it gives double benefit of cold compress as well as hydrates the skin. This will give instant relief from pain. Wash you skin with cold water and apply any moisturizing cream or Aloe Vera gel.

4. Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree oil possesses antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties. Add two to three drops of tea tree oil in a tablespoon of cold water. Mix it well and apply this diluted oil on your skin. Leave it there for 10 minutes and wash your face with water.

5. Oatmeal

Oatmeal with its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties will help you to reduce inflammation caused by the razor burns. Soak oatmeal in water and apply on the affected area. Keep it there for 10 minutes before washing your face with warm water.

You can use after all the above remedies an after shave lotion which will protect skin from getting infected as they are antiseptic.
