Types of Vomiting

There are many different types of vomiting requiring different types of treatments.

Following are the different types of vomiting classified based on root causes of vomiting:

1- Drug/ Treatment Induced Type Vomiting.

Cancer treatment like chemotherapy and radiology and certain drugs like some antibiotics induce vomiting.

2- Endocrine Type Vomiting

Early stages of Pregnancy fall under this type of vomiting.

3- Labyrinth Disorder Type Vomiting

Motion sickness can induce nausea and vomiting. Motion sickness is observed as a result of exposure to unfamiliar or uncontrolled motion.  This motion can be real or simulated. Another Labyrinth disorder is Meniere's disease which induces vomiting.

4- Infectious Type Vomiting.

Certain infection induce it. Gastroenteritis and viral labyrintiis  are the most common.

5- Increased Intracranial Pressure Type Vomiting

Many types of Hemorrhage can induce it. Also Meningitis induced vomiting falls under this category.

6-Post - Operative Type Vomiting

Certain  Procedural issues in the operations can cause vomiting. Uses of Anesthetics and Analgesics in surgery can induce it.

7- CNS Type Vomiting

These are anticipatory type vomiting induced by anxiety. Other stress related conditions that induce it are Bulimia nervosa and Migraine.
