Throat Infection Symptoms Depend on the Underlying Causes!

Your symptoms of throat infection will largely be dictated by the underlying cause of the infection.

Whether the infection is viral or bacterial, some of the common signs and symptoms will always be present such as soreness, pain and discomfort.

If it is just cold and running nose which is causing discomfort then there will only be mild pain in the throat. If the throat is also infected then the problem will multiply. There will be difficulty in swallowing. Even liquids can not be swallowed easily without any pain or irritation.

Initial signs of throat infection come from the feeling of scratchiness in the throat.  There are times particularly during the dry season, when the dryness and infection together can lead to sever pain and discomfort.

In addition to the above symptoms sometimes, the throat infection can lead to inflammation of tonsils and throat tissues.

During the bacterial infection the drainage from the nose and from the throat may be yellow or greenish. The sufferer will lose appetite during the infection period and feel irritable.

Dark red lines in the folds of skin may become visible along with red tongue and flushed face.  Overall looks will remain pale. In severe cases you may get a high fever, nausea, and vomiting.

In most cases the symptoms of throat infection spreads by causing fever plus tender and swollen lymph glands in the neck. In some cases particularly in children abdominal pain may be experienced.

The bacterial throat infection (Strep throat) is contagious, therefore one should avoid coming in contact with the people who are showing symptoms.

Tiny droplets with the strep bacteria go into the air when a infected person coughs, sneezes and when breaths out in regular breathing cycle. Any one in the close vicinity can capture the infection and the symptoms will begin to appear within 2 to 5 days.
