Symptoms of GoutGout takes many years to form but symptoms of gout are always sudden and acute. It all begins usually at night with out any warning with a sever pain in joints. The most common joint that gets affected is usually the base of big toe. Any joint can also get affected. Joints of the feet, ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and fingers can all get affected. In addition to experiencing sever pain it becomes warm, tender and turns red. Swelling around the joint is also very common.
The discomfort increases in the next couple of days and then begins to reduce as the gout begins to slowly disappear. There can be fever in most cases and movement of the joint gets restricted. The skin around the affected joint begins to feel itchy and peels off as the attack subsides. Symptoms of gout vary in different people. Most people get acute gout attack but other may get a less painful chronic gout. Chronic gout usually occurs in older people and may get confused with other types of arthritis. In some cases gout symptoms may begin to appear as nodules on ears, elbows and hands. Interesting gout usually develops in one joint at a time. Rarely two or mor joints are affected at the same time.
