Home Remedies Symptoms of Bronchitis

Know the Symptoms of Bronchitis.

Many other ailments mimic symptoms of bronchitis. It is very difficult to initially differentiate between, Asthma, Pneumonia and acute bronchitis in some cases. Pneumonia in particular is very serious condition; therefore consultation with doctor is very important particularly when high fever, shivers, chills and shortness of breath occurs.

Respiratory infections like common cold or sinus infections usually precede acute bronchitis. This is the time when natural home remedies for bronchitis may work well. Within 3 - 4 days of these infections acute bronchitis symptoms begin to show up.

The main symptom of bronchitis is a cough that secretes yellowish or green mucus (phlegm). Initially the mucus is white and gets continuously cleared into the throat and swallowed with saliva or thrown out. Once the bronchial tubes become inflamed the mucus gets discolored.  Significantly large amount of phlegm production is indication of the lower respiratory tract infection and it suggests that the lungs may be infected. This calls for immediate medical attention to rule out pneumonia.

Headache and general feeling of weakness are very common other bronchitis symptoms. Even mild fever and chills may be felt by the sufferer. Breathing difficulties may also be experienced due to clogged bronchial tubes. Tightness in the chest or burning sensation also can be felt due to the same reasons of clogged bronchial tubes.

Often chronic sinusitis can be confused with bronchitis. Chronic sinusitis is an ongoing infection in the linings of the cavities in the bone around nose. The confusion begins because very similar looking yellowing greenish mucus is discharges in chronic sinusitis.

Wheezing is another possibility that may occur because of the inflammation of the airways. This may leave you short of breath and induce general feeling of tiredness.

It is wise to pay proper attention to bronchitis symptoms. Both chronic and acute bronchitis (when caused by bacteria) can lead to serious complications if left untreated.
