Different Symptoms of Acid Reflux

Most of the acid reflux symptoms do not happen after every meal or even every day. It is very likely that the acid reflux symptoms disappear for some weeks and then reappear. Their disappearance is no certainty of the absence of acid reflux problems.Incidentally most of the heartburn can be controlled by natural remedies for acid reflux.

Following is the list of symptoms of acid reflux most of which are not very pleasant.

Acid Reflux Symptom 1- Chest Pain and Heartburn.

Usually appears as an unpleasant burning sensation in the chest. This unpleasant feeling can last for a few hours. This burning sensation radiates up from the stomach to the chest. It can even become worse if the person lies down after a meal.

Almost 80% of patients with frequent Acid reflux experience the signs at night. These Patients also tend to experience more severe pain as compared to those who experience the signs during the day time.

Early signs of a heart attack are deceptively similar to heartburn. Therefore it is important to eliminate the possibilities of heart attack.

Acid Reflux Symptoms 2- Sore Throat

The next thing that happens after heartburn is sore throat. This feeling of acidic contents in the throat calls for medical attention.

Acid Reflux Symptom 3- Regurgitation

After the throat the contents of the stomach can come to the mouth. Regurgitation means ejecting the contents of the stomach through the mouth.  In fact stomach acid and contents come back all the way into the throat and mouth. It leaves a bitter taste in mouth and a painful, burning sensation in the throat. You sometimes can experience a wet- burp or even vomit some contents of your stomach.

Acid Reflux Symptom 4- Dysphagia

Almost 50  percent of the sufferer have Dyspepsia. dyspepsia, is a syndrome consisting of Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen., burping, Fullness in the stomach. And Nausea after eating. It is important to note that people can have dyspepsia without having acid reflux problems.

Swallowing becomes difficult or painful in Dysphasia. The pain can be so strong that the patient becomes afraid of eating. The cause of Dysphagia is damage of the esophagus as a result of long term chronic acid reflux disease.

Acid reflux is very common and rarely serious. Most of the time low acid diet should give you relief. But don't ignore your symptoms. Call your doctor if weight loss, blood vomiting, black tarry stool or difficulty in swallowing accompanies the above symptoms. Also the heart attack signs are very similar to heartburn symptoms, it is wise to call on your doctor when in doubt.
