How to Prevent Back Acne?

Body or back acne can be annoying and  irritating experience. Teenagers must learn how to prevent back acne because it is the teenagers who suffers the body acne most.

Like facial ones, back acne or body acne commonly known as back acne is also caused by excess production of sebum by sebaceous glands. You can prevent it as well as treat it depending on the stages and severity of occurrences.

Back acne or body acne tends to form on the back, arms and buttocks at puberty. Chest may also get affected. When too much sebum (natural oil that is required to keep the skin healthy) is produced, the body pores and hair follicles can get clogged by dirt and dead skin attracting bacteria. 

Back acne can take many shapes ranging from black heads, pimples, pustules and cysts. They can be painful can form deep under the skin surface.

Normal treatment of back acne is also done in the same way as it is for the facial acne.

Prevent Back Acne by Lifestyle Changes

Frequent shower after every physical activity is necessary to prevent body acne. Don’t use soap while taking bath. Dry yourself clean after bath and wear lose clothes. Tight cloth traps dirt and perspiration with the sebum and clogs the pores. So if you are prone to acne don’t wear tight cloths.

Stubborn acne requires medical prescription including antibiotics (tetracycline or minocycline). Milder occurrences may be treated externally by 10 percent Benzoyl peroxide gel.

If you perspire either by physical activity or by exposure to hot climate, you must take quick shower every time. Use salicylic-acid-based cleanser and wipe with Benzoyl peroxide pads to take care of bacteria. You can apply alpha hydroxy acid-based body moisturizer as follow up. Don’t use oil based moisturizers.

Prevent Back Acne by Clothing

The best way to reduce occurrence and treat back acne is to wear lose cloths. Shower after perspiration as soon as you finish your physical activity. Change the cloths after every bath. In fact, it is a good idea to change your shirts 2-3 times daily even if you don’t do any physical activity.
