7 Ways to Use Honey for Blackheads

Blackheads are like acne. They appear as a result of clogging of pores. They contain oxidized melanin that is why they appear black. Melanin is a pigment that provides darkness to your skin.

Blackheads or open comedones are small bumps formed by clogged hair follicles on the face, back, chest, arms and shoulders. They are most noticeable on the nose and the chin.

1. Raw Organic Honey

  • Raw organic honey is more powerful than other processed honey. Depending on where you live the nutrition of honey may vary but always use organic honey
  • Apply raw organic honey on the affected area of your face such as nose, chin, around the nose and other affected are
  • Keep it for about 30 minutes
  • Wash and rinse your face with warm water
  • Do it 2-3 times daily until blackheads are gone

 

2. Honey and Tomatoes

  • Take out juice from a medium sized ripe tomato. Tomatoes have very good astringent capabilities. They help in removing the dirt and dead cells from the clogged pores.
  • Strain the juice with a fine strainer. You will get pink watery liquid
  • Mix one teaspoon of honey and 1/4 teaspoon of the above freshly squeezed tomato juice
  • Apply on the affected area of blackheads on your face
  • Leave it for 20-30 minutes
  • Wash your face with warm water to remove the honey tomato mask
  • Do it 2 times daily

3. Honey with Sea Salt

  • Take one teaspoon of raw organic honey
  • Add a pinch of salt and mix well. (a little less than 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt will do)
  • Apply the mixture on the affected area and rub in circular motion to exfoliate
  • Do the rubbing gently. The abrasive nature of sea salt will do the exfoliation and honey will handle bacteria and inflammation
  • Rinse your face with warm water

4. Honey and Sugar

  • Sugar and honey also make a good exfoliating paste
  • Sugar has wound healing properties and combined with honey it make a great remedy to remove blackheads
  • Take one teaspoon of honey and add 1/4 teaspoon of sugar
  • Mix the combination well to make homogenous paste
  • Apply it on the affected blackhead area and gently massage in circular motion

5. Honey and Milk

  • Lactic acid in milk helps to breakup dead skin cells and open the pores. Mixed with honey it increases its effectiveness
  • Add one teaspoon of milk to one tablespoon of honey
  • Mix well to form a consistent paste thick enough to hold on the skin. If required add more honey.
  • Apply it by rubbing gently on the affected are in a circular motion.
  • Leave it for 30 minutes

6. Honey and Lemon

  • Lemon contains Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy acids which help in effectively removing the dead skin from the clogged skin pores.

  • Cut lemon into two
  • Spread half a teaspoon of honey on the exposed side of lemon
  • Hold the lemon in one hand and bub the honey smeared on the lemon in circular motion on the affected area

7. Honey and Oats

  • Oats are good exfoliating agents
  • Take one teaspoon of rolled oats and add to one tablespoon of honey. If required add more honey to make a thick paste
