7 Home Remedies for Dry Scalp

1. Oil Massage

Oil Massage stimulates blood circulation and release of sebum. Massage your scalp regularly for at least two minutes daily before going to bed. Choose your own oil for massage. Almond oil massage has been found a good dry scalp home remedy. Almond oil is thick so you find it a little more difficult to massage than other oils. Take half a teaspoon of Almond oil at a time in your palm and apply it on the scalp where you are feeling the itch.

Step by step apply the oil in the entire scalp. Then massage your scalp with your own fingers for a minimum of 2 minutes. If you can do it for 10-15 minutes then it is great. Do it before going to bed. Leave it overnight and wash and rinse your scalp in the morning.

2. Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe Vera juice is good to moisturize your scalp. You can apply pure Aloe Vera Juice without any preservatives to your scalp by gentle massage. You can leave it as it is without any shampooing or conditioning. It will make your hair look good.

The best is to use fresh Aloe Vera. You can plant Aloe Vera at home. Take a leaf and remove the top layer with the help of a sharp knife. You will see thick white gel; remove and fill it in a jar and seal it. You can apply the gel 2 times a day. This will retain the moisture in the skin.

3. Lemon Juice

If dandruff is the cause of dry scalp then applying lemon juice can be a really good home treatment for dry scalp. Cut the lemon in half, remove the seeds and apply by rubbing on the scalp. Leave it for 30 minutes and then wash your hair with natural shampoo.

4. Tea Tree Oil

If the scalp is affected by fungal infection then apply tea tree oil. Just a few drops taken in hand and rubbing on the scalp daily twice a day will help reduce dry scalp. Tea tree oil not only nourishes the skin but also protects it from infections as it has powerful antiseptic and antifungal capabilities.

5. Drink Water

Drink lots of water. It is very likely that your scalp is dry only because of dehydrated skin. It may be reflective in the rest of the skin, but you may be getting the itch only in the scalp. If you drink 1 glass of water every hour during the day for a couple of weeks then your skin will become radiant and begin to glow. Your scalp will no longer be itching.

6. Yogurt

Yogurt contains good bacteria that can counter bad bacteria. Even applying plain yogurt helps relief from dry scalp itching. Take a tablespoon of yogurt and massage it on the scalp. If you keep short hair then this is enough. If you have long hair then you will require more quantity of yogurt. Wait for 15 minutes after applying the yogurt, and then wash your hair with natural shampoo. Apply a conditioner to complete the scalp and hair washing process.

7. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a very powerful oil to get rid of the dryness of the scalp. It forms a thin layer on the scalp that keep the scalp moisturized. Wash your hair and dry them. Apply coconut oil and massage on the scalp. Leave it there for the whole day. Wash the hair in the evening, dry them and apply the coconut oil as done in the morning. Leave it overnight and repeat the cycle the next day. You should see a major difference with in 3 weeks. Your scalp would have stopped itching.
