Eating habit have a significant impact on kidney stone prevention. Formation of the kidney stones can be prevented in most cases if the consumption of the food containing oxalate and calcium is reduced.

The best and easiest way to prevent kidney stone is to drink 2-21/2 liter water every day. if you drink a glass of water every hour then you will meet this requirement easily. Water helps to flush out unwanted elements in the body that are consumed through food.

Another important aspect to practice is to reduce consumption the food item that contain oxalate and calcium.

Beans, beets, green peppers, spinach, cocoa, chocolate, tea, peanuts, red meat, carbonated soft drinks and wheat bran are some of the main oxalate containing foods. Reducing consumption of these food particularly for those who are susceptible to getting kidney stones will help reducing probability to get kidney stones.

 

Various types of cheese, yogurt, waffles, vanilla ice cream, broccoli , pizza, milk baked custard and instant oatmeal are some the food items that contain calcium. Though calcium is important for the bone development, excess consumption of calcium can cause kidney stones therefore those who are susceptible to kidney stones should avoid consumption of calcium rich food.

Some food like containing potassium and magnesium decreases chances of formation of kidney stones. Vitamin C rich food like orange helps maintaining urine pH thereby reduce possibilities of stone formation.
