Fiber in food is good for health by keeping the digestion system in order, maintaining blood sugar and cholesterol levels and stopping heart attacks etc, but also causes gas. Other food products that causes excessive gas are dairy products. Lactose which is a kind off sugar in the dairy products is the main cause for it. Some of the objectionable excessive gases are caused by illnesses like food poisoning and stomach flu and chronic diseases like IBS or inflammatory bowl and various types of intestinal ulcers. Gases caused by Constipation and diarrhea can lead to sharp jabbing pain because you are unable to expel the gases. This type of pain some times gets confused with the heart attack. Avoiding or reducing the consumption of the foods that cause gas in your case will help. Also chewing food rigorously is a healthy habit that helps digestion hence reducing the possibilities of the food rotting in the intestine.
