How to Prevent Dehydration and Feel Good Throughout  the Day?

Dehydration is easily preventable yet people get dehydrated. This is because they take thirst as an indicator. In fact by the time they feel thirsty they are already dehydrated. Thirst is lagging indicator of dehydration.

The first and foremost method to prevent dehydration is to not get thirsty .i.e.  Before you feel thirsty drink water! This simply requires discipline and building a habit of drinking water on regular intervals.

If you believe drinking any liquid will prevent dehydration, then you are wrong! Some fluids like alcohol, carbonated beverages, caffeinated drinks and
coffee and tea actually dehydrate you. So be careful!

If you are doing physical activity or exposed to sun or are continuously in the air conditioned room then your fluid requirements increases because these conditions cause dehydration.

Long exposure in the hot outdoors and physical activities like sports not only increases you fluid intake requirements but also increases need for body salts. If you are sweating that means you are losing both water and salts. Therefore, use sports drinks which contain electrolytes to replenish lost body slats in addition to the water loss.

The best prevention of dehydration in sporting activities comes from drinking water or sports drinks a couple of hours before beginning the activity and then keep drinking it intermittently throughout the sporting activity.

The body fluid requirements will increase during the warmer days! Therefore during the warmer season drink more water and use sheds to prevent yourself from getting dehydrated.

Normally drinking 8-10 glasses of water during the day will prevent you from dehydrated, but if you are playing any sports or involved in any other physical activity then you need more fluid intake.

Keep drinking water throughout the day to prevent dehydration.
