How to Prevent Constipation and Feel Comfortable Always?
Constipation is a symptom of digestive system dysfunction. How to prevent constipation is much simpler than one thinks.
If constipation is not an end result of serious underlying diseases then following proactive habits will help constipation prevention. Most of them are good habits any way, just adopt then in your lifestyle for much more benefits than just constipation prevention alone.
Preventing Constipation 1- Eat High Fiber Diet
Fiber is like a sponge that absorbs and holds water while in intestine. Fiber in the stool absorbs water as a result stool becomes softer and easier to pass. Eating high fiber diet for constipation relief is one of the easiest methods of constipation prevention. Fiber is found in various foods and vegetables. Include 5 -6 servings of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Fruits like apples, bananas, berries, pears and many other fruits contain fiber. Vegetables like beans, carrots, corn, spinach and many other vegetables contain fiber.
Prevent Constipation 2- Increase Fluid Intakes
Drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water daily keeps you sufficiently hydrated. You can drink any other non carbonated non alcoholic liquids such as fruit and vegetable juices but plain water is the best. Remember that caffeinated and alcoholic beverage cause dehydration so ensure that the drinks are non caffeinated and non alcoholic.
Keep water on your desk and drink it throughout the day at regular intervals. Be aware that you will have to also consume enough fiber so that the fiber which absorbs and holds water in stool helps to prevent constipation. Without the consumption of fiber, the water will be absorbed directly into the bloodstream and the excess will be quickly excreted as urine.
Preventing Constipation 3- Regular Exercise
Exercise reduces stress and improves digestion. Get into a regular routine of some physical exercise every day. Just a simple walking and stretching will be of immense benefit. Some times special abdominal exercises may be required to tone up muscles.
Prevent Constipation 4- Regular Bowel Habit
Set a specific time in the morning for passing stool. Initially it might not work but with patience and commitment the new habit will be developed. The best time usually is the first hour after breakfast. Don't be in a hurry. Sit for at least 10 minutes and don’t strain even if you are not able to manage to pass a stool.
Preventing Constipation 5- Regular Food Timings
If you eat regularly every day at particular time then the body’s internal mechanism will time the large intestine to empty naturally. So develop a regular schedule for eating.
Prevent Constipation 6- Avoid Chronic Use of Harsh Laxatives.
Use of laxative or using over the counter medicine is not natural method. They may works occasionally. Over indulgence can be counter productive.
Developing good eating and exercising habits can go a long in most cases to prevent constipation.
