Gout - Foods to Avoid to Stay Clear of Gout!
Avoid these foods and stay clear of gout. Yes, you can make a list of certain foods and ensure that you don't eat them or reduce their consumption If you are able to resist those temptations , then you are most likely to avoid the pain of suffering from gout.
Foods particularly those high in purines should be completely avoided as they increase the possibilities of gout. In fact , Gout is a kind of arthritis which can be avoided in most cases by controlling diet.
Avoid the following Foods
It is clear that certain Foods increase formation of uric acid in the body leading to Gout. According to a recent 12 year long study conducted by Dr HK Choi (New England Journal of medicine March 11, 2004) , people who eat meat have 40 % higher chances of gout than those who don’t eat or eat less meat.
Reduce your consumption of meat such as beef, pork, lamb and organs like brain, liver and kidney. These meats have very high level of purines. Meat extracts and gravies made out of these meats are equally harmful as far as gout is concerned.
Other high purines containing natural products such as oatmeal, peas, dried beans, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus and mushrooms also pose the same risk. Reduce consumption of these food products.
There are conflicting views about sea products. What is good for heart is bad for gout. Certain sea foods such as anchovies, sardine, mussels, codfish, scallops, herrings, haddock, tout and roe (fish eggs) have been found to cause high levels of uric acid. Reduce consumption of these sea foods.
Alcohols and in particularly bear causes high uric acid so avoid!
Even sweat bread can cause high uric acid, so be careful when you eat it next time.
If you love some of the above listed food items and are suffering from Gout then you must completely stop eating them.
