Can Signs and Symptoms of Dehydration Go Unnoticed?
The easily recognizable signs and symptoms of dehydration include dizziness and headaches, dark urine and/or inability to urinate, dry mouth and nose, weakness, nausea and vomiting. If any of the above signs and symptoms appear than go and drink a lot of water which should give some immediate relief. Adult will feel it and talk about it and will normally get the required treatment. In children the signs and symptoms are slightly different and the adults have to recognize them. Dry mouth and tongue are very common in most children with dehydration. If the child doesn’t get any tears when crying then it is a certain sign of dehydration. Other observation can be that there are no wet diapers for 3 hours or more. Additionally abdomen eyes and even ears may appear sunken. Child may have high fever with irritability. One sure sign of dehydration in children is the skin that does not flatten when pinched and released. So don’t ignore any of these signs and symptom of dehydration which is easy to treat in its early stages at home. In advanced stages medical help is a must.
