Cough Suppressant and Expectorant have Two Different Uses

You can then, choose a suitable remedy from the large variety of available options.  Most suppressants and expectorants can be made from herbs. Usually Herbal compositions are also available over the counter.

Do Cough Suppressant Helps Sleep Well ?

The cough suppressants, which stops the urge and as a result, are supposed to help you sleep well. Unfortunately most suppressants are unable to help you to sleep well. they certainly are able to stop the cough but, unfortunately, most chemical compositions of suppressants cause anxiety. Therefore, though the cough is no more the cause of sleeplessness nut the anxiety takes over its place to disturb your sleep.

Expectorants thin down the cough mucus

Most OTC or home prepared expectorants do a good job of thinning down the cough mucus and clear the air passage going to the lungs. People suffering from pneumonia must ensure that the mucus blocking the air passage must be coughed out on regular basis to keep the air passage clear.  Thinning of mucus helps the drainage.

These days many combination cough suppressant expectorants are avoidable in the markets. The combined effect helps to reduce the urge to cough and then thin the mucus so that it drains out on its own with out coughing.
