Causes of Candida – What Causes Candida Overgrowth?

Candida albicans is an integral part of our body in the form of a friendly micro-organism. What causes Candida Infection or Candidiasis is the overgrowth of this micro-organism in proportion to the other friendly micro-organism.

A healthy immune system keeps Candida in balance with other micro-organisms in the mucous membranes. But under certain conditions Candida begins to overgrow and get out of control.

Anything that causes the immune system to become depressed can cause Candida. But, antibiotics are the biggest culprits because they wipe out most of the other friendly micro-organisms particularly in the digestive system. Candida is resistant to antibiotics so this imbalance of micro-organisms allows it to take over.

Other factors that depress the immune system include poor nutrition, environmental toxins, drugs, vaccines, and stress, to name a few.

The biggest contributor to Candida Overgrowth is sugar. Sugar is the main food of Candida albicans. An average westerner consumes 125 pounds of refined sugar every year.

High carbohydrates in the diet are also responsible for Candida overgrowth. Most of the white floor products are high in sugar content.

Chemical compounds are found everywhere in our food, air, and water reduces our immune system. Molds, chemicals, smoke, pesticide spraying, smog, electro-magnetic and radiation exposure are the environmental issues that reduce our immune system causing Candida.

Even the toxic substances in drugs, medicines, birth control pills, vaccines, fluoridated water and in personal care products like shampoo, body lotions, makeup, detergents, air fresheners, cleaning agents, synthetic carpets, etc. are all impacting immune system.

Emotional stress, losses, accidents, injuries, and financial worries and concerns also depress the immune system.

There is so much to depress our immune system that Candida overgrowth is happening in almost everyone’s life some time or the other in our lifespan.
