There are conflicting studies and answers to "can herpes be cured?" There is no conclusively yes or no. There are many people who have only got one outbreak of herpes simplex virus in their entire lifetime. After the first outbreak the never got it again.
Can it be concluded that their herpes was cured for good? Perhaps not!

There is no need to be overly concerned. Just be cautious. people with herpes have produced healthy babies. Life must be lived normally of course without ignoring the precautions. The question is not if the herpes can be cured for good or not but the question is whether is it controlled well or not.
