1- Furuncle and CarbuncleFuruncle is abscess in the skin caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacterium. It can have one or more openings (a cluster of furuncle is called carbuncle) onto the skin. People with furuncle or carbuncle may get fever/ chills or both. Carbuncles develop and heal more slowly with a vulnerability to leaving a scar. 2- Cystic acne BoilsThis is a type of abscess formed when oil ducts become clogged and infected. Cystic acne is most common on the face in the teenage years. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue. 3- Hidradenitis SuppurativaIt is caused by a local inflammation of the sweat glands. In this condition multiple abscesses form under the arm pits and the groin area. Medical/surgical attention is required in this case to avoid reoccurrences. 4- Pilonidal cystThis kind of abscess that occurs in the crease of the buttocks particularly when prolonged sitting during a long journey or so. The infection generally begins in the hair follicle.
