Causes of Blurred Vision During Pregnancy.
Hormone level changes during pregnancy have multiple impacts on both the expecting mother and to be borne baby.
The rising hormone levels cause blood vessels to contract and widen so that the blood flow to the baby in the womb increases. This results in slow returning blood flow in the veins to the mother causing headaches and dizziness.
It also leads to dryness, irritation and discomfort in the eyes. But if it happens with a blurred vision then you must consult doctor to rule out any other serious condition that may have nothing to do with pregnancy. High blood pressure and gestational diabetes are some of the possibilities.
Otherwise the blurred vision during pregnancy is temporary and becomes normal once you deliver.
Precautions to take for blurred vision in pregnancy
It is a good practice to stop wearing contact lenses instead wear glasses. This helps reduce irritation due to dryness of eyes during pregnancy.
If you face the blurred vision for longer than a couple of hours then it is time to call you doctor, other wise just relax don’t panic.
If you get hazy vision during exercising then may be you are dehydrated. This dehydration can raise your blood pressure which may reduce blood supply to the placenta and less nutrients to the baby. So ensure that you never get dehydrated during pregnancy.
