Acne Prevention Tips for Smoother Skin.

Can acne be prevented? Answer is you can try. The best you can do is to reduce the impact of inevitable acne (if you were to get it you will get it).  Some of the following acne prevention tips can be very useful if implemented with consistencies.

Since main causes of acne are over production of sebum (natural oil) and rapid shedding of dead skin cells during puberty, it is not really possible to totally avoid getting acne.

However, the severity can be reduced and managed as prevention. Following will be useful:

Acne Prevention Tips 1 - Hygiene Routine

Washing your face twice daily is a good hygiene routine. Washing removes excess oil and dead skin cells. Wash the skin with water based skin care products. Don’t wash your skin with any oil based cleansers. Don’t irritate your skin. Wash it gently and dry it with a clean towel.

Don't let your towel irritate the skin. Ensure that your towel is well rinsed ( no traces of washing detergents should remain on the towel)

Acne Prevention Tip 2 – Avoid Heavy Foundation Makeup

Don’t use any cream products on your face. Use of Talcum powder is fine. Avoiding oil based creams is absolutely necessary as these products will close the pores from which dead skin and access sebum could otherwise be removed.  Remove all the makeup before going to bed.

How about not applying any make up at all for a few months!

Acne Prevention Tips 3 – Wear Loose Clothing

Don’t wear tight fitting cloths. The tight fitting cloths trap the heat and moisture which irritates skin and block the pores (opening of the hair follicles). Also make sure that straps, backpacks and sport equipment do not cause any friction with the skin.

Also cotton cloths are better for most skins as compared to the synthetic cloths.

Acne Prevention Tip 4 – Wash the Sweat

Oil and sweat attract dirt and bacteria. So always take a shower after any strenuous work or exercising which causes sweat. Otherwise also it doesn't really hurt to go to the washroom frequently to wash face every hour or at any convenient intervals.

Cleaner you face remains lesser pimples!

Acne Prevention Tips 5 – Avoid Bad Habits

Acne prevention Tip 6 – Skip Hard Scrub

Don’t use almond or apricot based scrubs for exfoliating. These products will irritate the skin and aggravate your acne.  Use gentle formula which has small and smooth grains.
